Teaching
My current performance projects include acoustic trio The Sofa of Fools (who have toured Australia, NZ, and the UK), funky/folky four-piece Ant Gallery (currently working on an upcoming album release) and The Spooky Men’s Chorale (a men’s comedy choir with whom I have recorded and performed hundreds of gigs, touring extensively across Australia, Europe, and the UK since 2017). I also co-direct Sydney Alterna Choir, the friendliest choir in the Inner West.
Guitar
I started playing guitar when I was six years old, and have been playing and performing since then on acoustic and electric guitar (as well as bass, piano and voice) in a range of styles and contexts.
I can guide students to develop their skills across contemporary styles (pop, jazz, folk, blues, rock) in areas including strumming, fingerpicking, improvisation, soloing, understanding the fretboard, understanding chords and harmony, music theory, aural skills, general musicianship, playing in ensemble and band contexts, accompanying your own or other people’s singing voices and more. With beginning students, I’ll get you playing in a musical and satisfying way while you establish a secure foundation in technique and develop your musical intuition.
